The Difference is in the Detail

"... Verdigris; where engineering becomes art ..."

These railings were commissioned by a customer who lives in a thatched cottage awash with detailing typical of Arts and Crafts movement. They were especially designed to complement this setting.

As a craftsman it's always a pleasure to make work where the detail is the design. There again, I do like to think that all of my work reflects this love of detail. I always particularly enjoy using contrasting metals such as bronze or copper as a counterpoint to the darker tones and textures of forged steel. Unfortunately, with some of my work I don't always get chance to take the best of photographs. I'm often fitting the work at a stage where the background is still being decorated or occasionally the place is a building site. Literally!
