One aspect (amongst many) that I find rather satisfying about making creative metalwork is the widely differing scale of work I am able produce.
Occasionally, I like to return to my metalworking roots and create small and exquisitely detailed
jewellery, whilst on another day I'll be sculpting monumental metalwork to fit on the side of an old warehouse!
This page showcases some of the making of a
tree sculpture for Afflecks Palace in Manchester. Looking back, I find it hard to believe that the entire sculpture was made in an such a small workshop. Mind you, back then the workshop was relatively empty. These days it's full to the gunwales with tools of every hue. Believe it or not the last two photos are of the same space; but
separated by a few years. Looks like I'm going to need a bigger workshop ... watch this space!
