R12 Contemporary Wrought Iron Railings

"... stylish, elegant, and bespoke metalwork ..."

Menai Straits, Anglesey

These contemporary wrought iron railings were commissioned for a terrace overlooking the Menai Straits. The top of the railings reflects the mountains of Snowdonia in the distance, whereas the curvilinear design below reflects the water currents flowing through the straits.

The flowing shapes seen in the railings and handrail were made by heating the steel in a blacksmith's forge, then hammering it to shape. At high temperatures the metal is malleable and can readily be forged into the sweeping curves.
