This side gate features stylised and sculptural ferns that appear to grow from, through and around bars of the gate.
The fronds, leaves and tips are all hand shaped to give life and expression to the ferns.
Specially made tooling was used to forge ridges down the centre of the leaves for strength and appearance.
Each lobe of the leaves is slightly dished to give a more 3D sculptural look to the ferns whilst suggesting spores when viewed from behind.
The gate features Verdigris's signature curved top with leaf detailing and
wrapped joinery.
The steel has an aged
galvanised
finish for rust prevention that will weather to a very attractive mottled grey, reminiscent of old lead.
