G138 Gates and Railings With a Blend of Ferns, Stylised Plants and Art Nouveau Curves

"... stylish, elegant, and bespoke metalwork ..."

Hertford, Hertfordshire

The design of this series of gates and railings features stylised ferns and plants creatively blended with flowing Art Nouveau curves. Careful thought was given to the arrangement of the curves and ferns to ensure they would stop a small dog getting through, yet still have an uncluttered and unfussy quality. All the panels have a similar theme and coherent appearance, designed so that each looks "the same but different".

All the leaves, ferns and lilies are handmade and unique, with the fronds being specially shaped to give them a sculptural look that suggests inquisitive and youthful growth. Each of the fern's pinnas is individually shaped for expression, and features a grooved stem for strength and appearance. Each pinnule is slightly domed to give the leaf a 3D quality and hint at spores when viewed from the back.

The finish is galvanised steel that weathers to an attractive powdery grey white reminiscent of old lead. This changes to an equally as attractive mottled grey black when wet.
