A strong suggestion of fantasy features in the design of these steel stair railings. They are a creative blend of straight lines and sweeping curves made using traditional blacksmithing techniques.
The bold dramatic forms were forged by hammering the steel to shape whilst hot, as were the flowing tapers seen within the railings.
Working the metal whilst hot gave the steel a natural looking worked surface texture and a range of attractive tones.
The steel was then burnished and a hard clear coating of wax applied to protect the metal and to highlight these tones and textures.
