V93 Bronze Fig Sculpture for a Garden Walkway

"... stylish, elegant, and bespoke metalwork ..."

The Old Rectory, Wimbledon

Whilst discussing the design of the steel arches supporting the trees of this fig walkway, the customer became fascinated by the small bronze sculptures of various fruits and seeds made by David Hyde.

A selection of figs were collected from the trees and used to cast the bronze fruit featured in the sculpture. The mould and fruits are naturally destoyed as part of the casting process. Doing so captures every last detail and nuance of the originals and makes each fig as unique and individual as nature intended. The leaves and stems of the sculpture were hand forged using traditional blacksmithing skills. Some details of the casting process can be seen in this blog page.

Other work made by Verdigris in this very special garden includes this gate and this steel pergola.
