G112: Contemporary Art Nouveau Driveway Gates

"... stylish, elegant, and bespoke metalwork ..."

Lockerbie, Scotland

These driveway gates were specially commissioned to compliment a large period property. Their design was a development of a pair gates we had previously made whose flowing curves were strongly influenced by metalwork from the Art Nouveau movement.

The motifs used for these wrought iron gates were hand forged using traditional blacksmithing techniques. The metal was heated in a forge then shaped using skillfully placed hammer blows to give the gates a real sense of life and character. The bars of the lower panels were joined using hot punched holes, spacers and ball nuts, adding to the rich detailing displayed throughout the gates.
