Rather than using conventional steel bars, this jeweller's shop took a more sculptural approach to the security of the front door.
The specially commissioned security grill was made from
forged steel with
copper and
bronze spacers. Beating the steel to shape whilst glowing hot lends the metal a rich, naturally worked
texture that was enhanced with a
burnished and waxed finish. The bars were joined using
rivets in
hot punched holes.
